The instructor for Omulu Guanabara Capoeira Hayward, Busca He' (Anthony
Fidel), is a graduated student of Mestre Preguiça and Mestre Aceituno.
Busca He' began his training in the art of Capoeira with
Omulu Capoeira Group ("Kintuari" Chapter Oakland) in 1996. At the same time, he was two years from completing his seven year tour of duty with
the United States Navy where he served as an MH-53 Aircrewman/Aviation
Electronics Technician. After receiving his honorable completion of
obligated service, he stayed on with Omulu Capoeira Group to further
his Capoeira training and contribute to the group. Now, since 2002, he
is authorized and certified by Mestre Preguiça to instruct his own
youth and adult classes.
Three years prior to establishing himself in Hayward, California (Bay Area/East Bay), Instructor Busca He' began his development towards becoming an
instructor. During this time, he assisted Mestre Aceituno with
instructing numerous classes for at risk-youth in the city of Oakland
and San Francisco as well as evening adult classes. During this period
of instructor conditioning, Instructor Busca He' met, overcame, and
learned from the numerous challenges an instructor must face when
instructing to the diverse attitudes, social backgrounds, and physical
abilities of students young and older. Also during this period,
Instructor Busca He' performed at numerous demonstrations and
performances in the Bay Area with Mestre Preguiça and Mestre Aceituno
at reputable venues. His continuing development, knowledge, and
disciplines are a direct reflection of the strict/positive guidance and
mentoring from his Mestres.
Instructor Busca He' has been an established Capoeira instructor in the city of Hayward, CA since early 2002 where he began his solo work with the nonprofit organization, Kinship Support Services Program. Since then, he has continued to establish successful partnerships with other nonprofit organizations such as Team Up For Youth, The Eden Youth Center, and Straight From The Heart, Inc. Also since 2002, he continues to work successfully with Bally Total Fitness Hayward in offering affordable classes that are open to the public regardless of membership to the gym.
As Omulu Capoeira Group Hayward provides quality Capoeira instruction, with emphasis of instilling the philosophies of discipline needed for positive growth in conjuctution with the support of Omulu Haywards' past and present sponsors, it has ensured the documented success of public outreach to Hayward's inner-city/at-risk youth.
The result of Instructor Busca He's' hard work, creativity, passion, and commitment towards
instructing Capoeira and outreach, has led to many invitations to conduct
demonstrations and performances for several California cities such as: Cupertino, Mountain View, San Jose, Vallejo, and all throughout Hayward. With his students (youth and adults), as well as internal support of Omulu Capoeira Group, he has been able to honor those
invitations resulting in the success of inspiring onlookers.
While outreaching in Hayward, Instructor Busca He' has gained respectable and professional working relationships with the community, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and city officials. His continued efforts are aimed toward keeping youth out of gangs and away from drugs while instituting the tools needed for: building self-esteem and
self-discipline, earning and giving respect, teamwork, developing leadership skills, developing self-defense techniques, and physical fitness for health awareness.
As of October 24, 2004, due to his perseverance in community involvement, Instructor Busca He' was voted onto the Board of Directors of Omulu Capoeira Group and is
currently fulfilling the positions of Vice President and Secretary. As
a board member, his experience and gained knowledge, from his various
working relationships, contribute to the sustainability and success
